Hey, I’m Sophia! A former professional ballet dancer and certified mental health advocate, holding two bachelor’s degrees in Dance and Psychology.
I trained and performed internationally, most recently as a corps de ballet member with The Sarasota Ballet. I graduated from the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich with a degree in dance, and am completing my degree in psychology at Baruch College, where I’ve focused on abnormal psychology, trauma, and performance-related mental health.
Like many dancers, I struggled silently — with burnout, anxiety, identity loss, and the constant pressure to always be “on.” What began as love for the art form became entangled with self-worth, perfectionism, and emotional exhaustion. That turning point led me to psychology — and ultimately, to founding Ballet Hotline.
This platform is a space for dancers to explore their inner world:
✔ to unlearn the belief that worth equals achievement
✔ to navigate casting, corrections, and comparison without spiraling
✔ to build emotional strength alongside physical technique
I’ve worked with dancers as young as 3 and professionals deep into their careers — in the studio, in community mental health programs, and on stage. My goal is to bridge that gap between mind and movement, helping you dance without self-betrayal.
Ready to reset your mindset and feel supported in the studio again?
Ballet can be a lonely and competitive world.
There is pressure to stay quiet, hold it together, and keep pushing — even when it hurts.
Ballet Hotline was created for dancers who need space to breathe and speak freely.
Whether you’re a student, a professional, or somewhere in between, this is a place where your experiences are valid.
If you’ve ever felt unseen, overwhelmed, or isolated, you’re not alone.
You deserve a place to be heard without fear of judgment.
Ballet Hotline offers mindset coaching and emotional support, but it is not therapy and should not be used as a replacement for licensed mental health care.
If you are in crisis or need clinical support, please contact a licensed therapist or mental health professional.
This space is here to support you as a fellow dancer, with care, guidance, and respect for your personal journey.
If appropriate, I am also happy to personally refer you to trusted mental health professionals from my network, based on your specific needs.
The fact that you’ve found your way here means something. It means you’re thinking about yourself, your needs, and your growth. That’s a huge step.
Taking care of your mind as a dancer is just as important as training your body. Whether you reach out now or later, know that this space is here for you when you're ready.
